Message from the Executive Director Verna Jones

"Under 1 Roof has grown tremendously over the past two years and has continued to support the homeless in Dallas with a continuum of housing, prevention, and support services. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we stepped up and expanded our support for the homeless in Dallas and surrounding counties. The agency went from a budget of $330,000 in 2019 to a highly competitive housing organization with a budget of $3,421,000 in 2022. In addition, our staff of 2 grew to 18 full-time employees.
 
As we celebrate 13 years of serving the homeless through our housing and social services programs, we invite you to join us and help support our 9th annual Stepping Out of Homelessness gala on October 28, 2023. 

With the continuance of COVID-19 and its impact on our economy, we realize thousands of people are just one step away from finding themselves in a vulnerable place. Today, we are dealing with higher food prices, lack of affordable housing, rising gas prices, and other increased costs. There are jobs available, but they are either not a fit for the population we serve or are minimum wage jobs that cannot sustain a family.

With your support of our gala and the experience and dedication of the Under 1 Roof team, we can give families and individuals the tools and community resources to build a stable foundation to grow and thrive, and in turn, change the dynamic of our communities."
